About ALI-ABA
ALI-ABA has been the recognized leader in continuing professional education in the United States for over 60 years. In 1947, the American Bar Association, the largest professional organization for lawyers in the world, asked the American Law Institute, an influential and highly respected law-reform organization, to develop the first national program of post-admission legal education. Today, ALI-ABA offers a national curriculum of continuing legal education featuring traditional substantive CLE courses, litigation and transactional skills programs, distance learning courses, published books and periodicals, online materials, customized solutions for institutions, and in-house services for lawyers at every stage of their careers.
ALI-ABA is distinguished among its peers not only for its own outstanding national curriculum of continuing legal education, but also for its pioneering work to promote continuing professional education for lawyers among bar associations, law schools, and independent entities throughout the United States and to create standards to ensure quality and relevance in continuing legal education programs. Today's robust system of continuing legal education for lawyers, provided by hundreds of organizations across the United States, owes much to these efforts. The Association of Continuing Legal Education, an international organization of CLE providers, has repeatedly recognized ALI-ABA for its unique contributions to the CLE profession.
Thousands of the most preeminent lawyers in the United States have volunteered to speak and write for ALI-ABA. Through these lawyers, ALI-ABA has contributed to the continuing professional education of countless practitioners. Over the past year, more than 10,000 lawyers attended ALI-ABA's multi-day courses at various locations throughout the country. Thousands more attended ALI-ABA webcasts, purchased ALI-ABA books, and accessed online materials and courses at the ALI-ABA website.
